On behalf of ‘Nepal Forum’ of Nepalese Association in Southeast America (NASeA), together with President Bimal Nepal, I take this pleasure to invite you all in NASeA Talk Session on the topic of Role of Local Government in US and Lessons for Nepal? It is indeed our pleasure to introduce our dynamic youth leader Mr. Kiran “Ron” Sitoula who is currently serving as the Vice Mayor of the Town of Indian Head in Maryland for over 20 months.
He will share the historic context of his 2015 election in his town. He will speak about the roles of small town and contrast with State and Federal governments in US. He will highlight the town’s accomplishments, failures and challenges. Most importantly he will talk about the lessons that can be shared with youths here as well as back home both in terms of community involvement as well as local level politics.
Furthermore, as a non profit organization we do not endorse any party or bring any politics during our talk session or workshop but will open the door of communication in all fronts so that our Nepali American community members specially youths take the opportunity to learn and serve this great nation of unlimited opportunities.

Brief Bio: Kiran ‘Ron’ Sitoula, CPA. Education: BA (Accounting) Ohio Wesleyan University (Cum Laude), M. Sc. (Database Technology), University of Maryland University College.
Work History: US Department of Treasury, Senior IT Project Manager (Current) Vice Mayor of Town of Indian Head (current). Prior work experience: PricewaterhouseCoopers (Staff Accountant) Deloitte and Touche (Senior Auditor), World Bank (Accountant Analyst), The USA Today (Senior Circulation Manager); Consultant at PwC, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and The Marriott International. Board Member at Charles County Public Library, Founding President of SEBS North America (Not- for-Profit), Board Member of BNKS Endowment Fund. 2 times winner of “Jewell Award” at USA Today (2006) and Winner of Highest Award given to the federal government employees “Commissioner’s Award” by the Department of Treasury (2015). Active CPA Membership in Commonwealth of Virginia, and Microsoft Certified DBA (MCDBA).

He will share his future plans about encouraging our current youths her in US and in Nepal about the need to get involved in their community and local politics.
