DC Protest Rally against Indian Embargo

A united Nepali front, comprised of almost all major Nepali organizations in America and individual community leaders have conducted a protest rally against Indian embargo in Nepal in Washington DC, today. The rally was participated by over two thousand Nepalis and friends of Nepal, making this to be the largest rally ever conducted by Nepali outside Nepal and SAARC countries.
While the Protest rally idea was proposed and lead by Association of Nepalis in the America (ANA), Baltimore American Nepalese Association (BANA), Association of Nepalese in Midwest America (ANMA), Nepalese Association of Southeast Americas (NASEA) and Non residence Nepali of USA (NRNUSA) and several individual community leaders from DC Beltway area and North Carolina played key
role in the successful launch of this rally.
The rally started by a brief introduction of the situation in Nepal and the impact of embargo on daily life of the people, followed by patriotic songs and resolutions. The three hours march of two thousand strong men, women and children circled around Lafayette park, across from the White house, with placards and slogans which ended in front of the Indian Embassy.
The protest resolution and letters are planned to be delivered to the White House and Indian embassy on Monday, November 22nd when both offices are open The protest was unprecedented in every sense. Not only it was the largest Nepali protest outside Nepal, there was no long line of speakers from the organization committee, like in other Nepali events. The event was just a protest for Nepal without
