Dear Respected NRN Leaders of America:
Namaste!
Today, NRN USA is at crossroads. The future of NRN USA is at stake. One crisis after another has seriously weakened the organizational strength and moral capital of NRN USA. I strongly believe NRN USA needs a turnaround with a clear vision and direction. It needs to win back hearts of thousands of common NRNs. In order to accomplish that, it needs people with passion, energy, ethics, and vision. It needs people who can rise above personal and group interests for the sake of the organization and the Nepali community. It needs people who can deliver results rather than just talk. It needs people who can make NRN USA work for common NRNs like you and me. It’s with these strong convictions that I have filed my candidacy for Joint Treasurer of NRN NCC-USA Board 2017-19.
With the spirit of “Once of Nepali, Always a Nepali”, I have always been actively involved with various Nepali organizations with the ultimate goal of serving Nepal and Nepalis since I came to the US. Before that too, I had been involved in several social organizations. Social service is near and dear to my heart.
My Social Accomplishments/Engagments:
· Actively involved in Rotary and Rotaract Clubs for last 10 rs (since 2007)
· Engaged with ShelterBox since Koshi Flood of 2008 (helping 50K+ flood victims) for last 9 yrs
· Founded Nepalese Student Association (NSA) with fellow Nepali students at Portland State University (PSU) within 1.5 months of my arrival in the university and led it as its Founding President
· Founded NRN Georgia Chapter with local community leaders within 8 months of my arrival in Georgia and led it as Founding Vice-President
· Under STEP committee of NRN USA, led efforts in the issue of Dual Taxation between the US and Nepal and explored diaspora investment opportunities in high social impact projects in Nepal
· Hosted a Welcome Dinner Program for 300+ Rotarians and their families from Nepal during RI Convention in Atlanta, GA on June 10, 2017
My Agenda for NRN USA 2017-19:
· NRN ID Card for General and Life Members
· Expansion of State Chapters to 9 more states making it total 26
· Closer coordination between NRN USA Board and State Chapters with Bottom Up approach
· Nepal Community Center building effort in coordination with local Nepali organizations in 26 states
· Skill based training for employment for NRN youths in the US
· Dual Citizenship related laws and rules formulation effort
· NRN Hotline for Nepali victims of any forms of violence or circumstances seeking legal or any emergency help
· Dual Taxation Avoidance Treaty between Nepal and the US
· Investment opportunities for small and medium diaspora investors in Nepal
· NRN – Rotary collaboration in social and charitable works
· Inclusive NRN
I have no wish to occupy the position and do nothing. I will try my best. I may not be able to do all things, but at least I will be able to do something. And I count your support in that. Every vote counts! God bless us all.
Jai NRN! Jai Nepal and Nepalis!
Sincerely,
“Rising to make a difference!”
